Susan is a 1980 Morristown High School graduate. As a member of Coach Karen Lane’s teams, she was a big part of the early period of Morristown girls’ basketball. She scored an impressive 818 points in only 51 games, which still ranks her among the top ten scoring leaders in Morristown girls' basketball history. She remains first in school history in scoring average with a career average of 16.0 ppg. Susan scored 20 points or more in 16 games, and she was named to the All-Shelby County Tournament team in all four years of her career. In 1980, despite the fact that the Jackets fell short in the championship game, she was the first Morristown player ever to be selected as MVP of the Shelby County Tournament. As a #1 doubles player, Susan was also a four-year varsity letter winner in girls’ tennis, and she and doubles partner Leah Brooks were undefeated in regular season play for three consecutive seasons. She was a three-year member of the Big Blue River Conference team in both basketball and tennis, and she was an academic honor letter winner in both sports for four years. In 1980, she was the recipient of the Indiana Basketball Coaches’ Association scholarship in recognition of her athletic and academic excellence. She was a pioneer in high school sports at Morristown High School. In 1984, Susan began her twenty-three years as an English teacher at Morristown. For four of those years, she also coached within the girls’ basketball program, and she coached girls’ tennis for nine years. Today, she continues to teach English at a Shelby County high school.
